Watch what you eat

As I grow older, I am coming to realise that the phrase ‘You are what you eat’ is 100% True.

As much as it doesn’t feel nice to hear, If you can’t control what you out into your mouth, that says a lot about who you are as a person, hands down.

There are a lot of different information about what’s good for your body and what’s not good for it and a lot of it can be confusing.

But there are a couple of universal things that everybody agrees are not good for you.

Processed foods, deep fried foods, refined sugars, plastic water bottles, carbs with added sugar etc.

If you can control what you eat and maintain good body composition, it says that

  • You have discipline.

  • You have self control.

  • You don’t let yourself “run wild” like a child.

  • You understand health and care for yourself.

  • You are healthier than most people.

  • You have good mental health.

And a lot more!

It is HARD. And I know that.

If you never take the steps you need to take to become healthier, you can’t expect people to support you for the consequences of your actions.

I have suffered with binge eating for more than half a year after my schooling.

And it took me 4 years to get rid of the junk fat I had.

If I had the proper channels to learn the information to eat well and make my body a better place to be, I would have started sooner.

4 quick and simple things I incorporated in my life to get better and feel better were:

  • Quit white sugar completely.

  • Switch over to a metal bottle instead of plastic (did this to avoid microplastics as much as possible)

  • eat out a maximum of 2 times a month.

  • Avoid the urge to order food or eat while others order by drinking water. (often times you’re just thirsty)

This is a life long process.

All you have is this one body. And if you don’t see to keeping it healthy, then you alone are the one to suffer the consequences no matter how many people say they support you.

There are a lot of people in my life from whom I learned this lesson.

Your Diet is a KEY PILLAR for you health along with sleep and Exercise.

Of course, having fun with food and pulling some all nighters here and there is great! and creates some very memorable events.

But you should draw a line for yourself as to how much is enough.

I’ll let you think about it as I still have more learning and thinking to do.

But, it’s a food for thought (see what I did there)

I’ll see you around.

Cheers,

Kapil.
