A Case for Writing….again.

One of THE BEST habits I suggest to anyone and everyone who comes to me about their problems with their family, relationships, mental health or anything else is WRITNG.

I cannot overstate the importance of writing down what you have in your mind.

The mind is a mess. It needs regular cleaning as well.

And writing (on a paper) makes things so much clearer.

The perspective and relief you gain when you write your problems or experiences down is fascinating.

It shows you things for what they are.

Your problems will look solvable. You can track the origin of your troubles and see what you did that made it worse. It helps you understand what you feel about certain topics such as family, friends and relationships.

It shows you who you are.

I personally write without any boundaries or fear.

What do I mean?

I used to write with the fear that “What if someone reads it?” or “what’s would be the point if I write and the problem is still unsolvable?”

But these days, I write without holding back about things that I know are sensitive. I have grown up to a point where even if someone reads it, I own what I wrote and I stand by it.

Even if the problems I have look unsolvable after I write about them, I can always see where the problem begun and track through it and see what I can cut off to make the problem go away sooner.

Yes, This is a very hard habit.

I myself often feel lazy or think “nah, I can deal with it without having to write about it”

And 80% of the times I can deal with them. But when I write about them, I feel relaxed. Like how Atlas would feel if he could put down the earth.

If there is anything I would recommend, I urge you to write.

It is a skill that is very scarce and we are forgetting how to do it.

Put all the mess inside your head on a paper, and piece it together.

Try it this weekend.

Sayonara,

Kapil.
