Make Decisions Faster

You decide you are gonna form a habit of sleeping on time at 10 P.M.

The clock hits 7…8….9….9:45…

You find one funny reel, then two, then three, then a cute animal video, then you come across a motivational reel of how you are gonna have to be disciplined…

You feel motivated and think to yourself that you are gonna have a productive day tomorrow.

You look at the clock before sleep. It’s 1 A.M.

You planned to sleep at 10 P.M. Was it worth it?

I learned that one of the reasons successful people are successful (not just financially, but in all aspects) is because they make quick decisions, fail faster, and quickly decide again to correct their mistakes and try again.

They don’t wait around saying “Yes! I’m gonna start doing this from monday” or “New year” or “Start of the month” etc.

If they decide something has got to change, they change that right then and there.

And if I wanna make something better in my life, I need to make a decision and act on it quickly.

Be Quick to Decide and Quicker to Act on it.

I have been one to procrastinate when it comes to making decisions.

But I’ve learned (due to my job being that of a Manager) that there are two types of decisions.

  1. Reversible

  2. Non-Reversible

Your life 99% of the times consists of reversible decisions. You know what they are.

The ones you need a bit more time to think about clearly and make a decision on are the non-reversible ones. Like saving a friend hanging on a side of a cliff. You gotta save that idiot! If you make a bad decision there, they’re gone forever.

But, like I said, 99% of the decisions are reversible if you ask me.

As soon as you have to decide on something, act fast, give yourself 10-20 seconds to decide and go ahead.

That’s what I’ve been forcing myself to do these days. From choosing a restaurant to suggesting strategies at work, it has helped me a lot.

Maybe, might help you too.

Sayonara,

Kapil.
