It's not right for you

I have a friend who is THE MOST negligent to try anything new.
He does not like trying new food, new clothing, new people, new city etc.
We went with him to a cafe a couple of years back and ordered a pasta.
He unwillingly tried it out. And acted as if he didn’t like it.
A couple of years later, he willingly orders pasta and even lasagna when we go to cafe’s.
What changed?

Welp, he tried something new which he was not willing to, and changed his mind later.
How do you know if something is for you?
Well, you try it.
You try a new food and you find if its to your liking or not. You take a trip to a city for a week or two and find if its for you or not. You test ride a bike before you buy it to see if its for you or not. You go on dates with people and hang out with them to see if they are for you or not.
Obviously don’t jump out of an airplane without a parachute to see if its for you or not.

But, you need to have an hands on perspective at most times to see whether if its for you or not before you jump on your stubborn horse and say “NO, it’s not for me”.
You might miss some of the best foods, best cities, best materialistic things, best relationships, best friendships, best experiences if you say NO as an instinct without thinking.
I want to say YES to a lot of things I haven’t tried before. Then with the experience, make a decision on whether it is for me or not.
Again, I know driving at 100 KMPH with my eyes closed is not for me.
I’m not talking about stupid stuff. I’m talking about genuine things you know you are just saying No to because of instinct and refrain from trying.
Go and say YES.
And come out of it with a better judgement.
That’s all.
Sayonara,
Kapil.
