Which Way to Go?

I have an interest in learning about different subjects.

If you ask for what they are, I’d say,

  • Art & Drawing

  • Animation & Storytelling

  • Human Psychology

  • Animal Behaviour

And I love them all equally.

I chose Art and Drawing as the initial career path for me since it was the one I’m most good at (compared to others). But I’ve still found a way to consume info on the other subjects through Books, Social Media, Newspapers, TV channels, and Documentaries.

Having these many interests made me feel overwhelmed and think about what my one REAL interest was. Sadly, I couldn’t find it.

I realised along the way that I don’t have to pick just one thing to do for my whole life (making it a career) but rather, think about my interests in terms of Projects that I want to finish as I live and go along.

So I started planning in 10 Years chunks which allowed me to have a vision on how I would go about pursuing my interests.

The Goal I have right now is to make a movie for Disney/Pixar.

And to I achieve that I must focus on Animation and Character Design till 30.

And I mean REALLY REALLY Focus!

Once the goal is achieved, I’d probably quit Disney/Pixar and slowly transition to learning about Human Psychology, studying people, and become a psychologist (Clinical).

This may seem like a stretch. Heck! it sounds like a stretch to even me.

But, If you ask me,

Goals aren’t supposed to sound realistic.

If it does, then they’re just an end point that you already know you can reach.

Goals are supposed to make you feel tingly about the possibility of whether or not you will be reaching it.

It should make you doubt yourself.

And when it does, is exactly when you obsess over the goal single-mindedly and run towards it.

So as for my interests, 10 Years seems like a good enough investment to get great at any skill.

So try coming up with your own list of interests and see if they’re something that makes you feel tingly. If it does, get on it!

I’m very well aware that I can be wrong with this and my views on it can change, but I don’t want to end up on my 70th birthday regretting how I should’ve pursued my interest for animals more.

So yep.

That’s it for this one I guess.

You’ll have an awesome weekend 🙂

Manifest it.

Best,

Kapil.
