The Way You See

This is something that I’ve been doing everyday at the end of the day. (For a week now)

If I had faced a situation or had to make a decision, or if I had a misunderstanding with someone, I rewind that experience back, and try to see it either from the other person’s perspective, or see myself from a third person perspective.

It’s kind of an introspective practice that I’ve been doing and mixed it along with my meditation habit I’ve been trying to build.

By doing this, I was able to observe what I could have done differently, and how I could have approached things in a much better way. If it was a squabble with someone, I was better able to come to a conclusion on what I should do if something like that happens again.

And It barely takes me 15-20 mins a day to do this.

This has creeped into my work, and my normal social setting, where if I get a different opinion, or if I had to do something, I’ve started to ask myself,

Is there a better way to say this?’

‘What can I do to make this better?’

‘What’s more important here?’

‘Will I care If this happens?’

And a lot more questions in similar situations you can find yourself in.

I don’t know if others do this introspection thing often, but it’s definitely something new that I’ve started doing these days. Kinda helps me clear out my thoughts and makes me understand what’s important.

Maybe you can try it.

Just before you hit the bed, you can sit and close your eyes, or lay down with your eyes closed.

And take just 10-15 mins thinking about what happened that day (or even something that’s been in your head for a while)

Look at it from a third person perspective, literally! Feel your consciousness coming out of your body till you are able to see yourself in that situation like a third person, and look at what you could have done differently. (Sounds voodoo and spiritual as shit, but just try it)

When done, trust me, you’ll feel light as a feather. Like a load off your chest.

So yep. That’s it.

Got a long weekend.

You have fun too.

Best,

Kapil.
